Why is a ship called she?
The use of Exmouth Quay Residents' Association website www.eqra.co.uk has rocketed during the past year and has continued to climb during the first few weeks of 2009. The actual number of unique visits during 2008 was 3603 compared with just under 1000 in 2007. The early figures for 2009 suggest that the hit rate could be in excess of 6500 for the coming year. What is the reason for this popularity? Rather surprisingly, it appears that most people accessing the site do so in a logical manner and use the index to navigate through the pages and they seem to concentrate on the noticeboard, on community matters, social activities, annual reports, news items and details of the Association. Most access via Google. Are they by any chance people who are thinking of moving here? There is also a steady but fairly low level interest in the feature articles which help to make up the splendid periodical Quay News.
